Specialty coffee from Colombia by Jairo Arcila, grown on the Santa Monica farm in the Quindio region
This is an heirloom varietal with a wet washed process and aerobic fermentation.
After tasting, we find a chocolatey coffee, highlighting flavors of black tea, cocoa, raspberry, and ginger. We appreciate a creamy texture and medium intensity.
Produced by Jairo Arcila
Jairo Arcila is a third-generation coffee farmer in Quindío, Colombia. Married to Luz Helena Salazar, they had two sons together: Carlos and Felipe Arcila, co-founders of Cofinet. Jairo's first job was as Plant Manager at Colombia's second-largest exporter. He continued working there for over 40 years, until his retirement in 2019.
Jairo bought his first coffee farm, Finca La Esmeralda, in 1987, where he planted his first plot of Caturra. He was fortunate enough to earn money producing coffee while working full-time for a local exporter. With his savings, Jairo was able to acquire five additional farms. After La Esmeralda, he purchased Villarazo, Mazatlán, Santa Mónica, Maracay, and finally Buenos Aires. During the harvest season, Jairo is able to provide numerous jobs for locals, which has a significant economic impact on his community.
