Costa Rican specialty coffee produced by three local families at the Aquiares estate, located in the Turrialba region of Costa Rica.

This is a caturra varietal with a wet benefit of washed process and anaerobic fermentation.

After tasting, we find a chocolatey coffee, highlighting flavors of dark chocolate, cinnamon and citrus.

Produced by three local families on the Aquiares estate

Aquiares Estate is the largest Rainforest Alliance certified coffee estate in Costa Rica. The estate is known for the quality of its high-altitude, shade-grown Arabica coffee, which offers a deep aroma that beautifully blends chocolate and cinnamon, giving way to a delicate citrus acidity. The cup is well-balanced, complex and full of character, with flavors that linger and finish with a clean, pleasant sensation.

In 1949, the estate was purchased by the Figueres family, the family of the former president who bravely abolished the Costa Rican army. This famous family continued to develop and expand the estate until, in the early 1970s, three close-knit families took over the property and are now dedicated to producing coffee of the highest quality.

The coffee on this estate is grown at a high altitude, around 1,400 meters above sea level. The terrain allows varieties such as Caturra and others, such as Centroamericano, which were not as well known before, to thrive in the rich volcanic soil with cool night temperatures.

Aquiares is not just a coffee estate, it is a community, an aspect that Planting Costa Rica values greatly and is proud to present this extraordinary coffee.
