This is a fruity coffee with tasting notes of walnut, pineapple, and mango.

It is a Catuai varietal with a washed process and anaerobic fermentation.

This coffee comes from the hand of Marysabel Caballero at her El Puente farm in La Paz, Honduras.

🌱 Producer: Marysabel Caballero & Moises Herrera

Marysabel and her husband, Moises, are second- and third-generation coffee producers in Marcala, southeastern Honduras. They have been recognized numerous times for their work improving the quality of Honduran coffee and have been collaborating with Nordic Approach since 2012.

Marysabel is the daughter of Don Fabio Caballero, a pioneer in coffee cultivation in the region. Together with Moises, they manage approximately 17 farms totaling almost 200 hectares, all very close to their wet mill, Xinacla. There, they process the coffee cherries, usually keeping each farm's production separate, although they sometimes combine small batches to create blends marketed as "Caballero."

The main variety they grow is Catuai, but they also work with others such as Java, Pacamara, and Geisha. Their farms are located in humid and windy areas with clayey soils, both on plains and hillsides. Some have natural shade, while others do not.

Marysabel and Moises record everything that happens on their farms and constantly invest in new varieties and technical improvements. In 2010, they won third place in the SCAA's "Coffee of the Year" competition and have been frequent finalists in the Cup of Excellence.

Impact and sustainability

The Caballeros are deeply committed to sustainability. On their farms, they produce organic fertilizer from manure and coffee pulp, supplemented with mineral fertilizer. They also grow fruits such as oranges, avocados, and bananas, which help maintain biodiversity and provide shade and food for the harvesters.
