Jairo | Colombia
Specialty coffee from Colombia by Jairo Arcila, grown in the estate Santa Monica in the Quindio region
This is an heirloom varietal with a wet benefit of washed process and aerobic fermentation.
After tasting, we find a chocolatey coffee, highlighting flavors of black tea, cocoa, raspberry and ginger. We will appreciate a creamy texture and a medium intensity.
Produced by Jairo Arcila
Jairo Arcila is a third-generation coffee farmer in Quindío, Colombia. Married to Luz Helena Salazar, they had two sons together: Carlos and Felipe Arcila, co-founders of Cofinet. Jairo’s first job was as a Plant Manager at Colombia’s second-largest exporter. He continued to work there for over 40 years, until his retirement in 2019.
Jairo purchased his first coffee estate, Finca La Esmeralda, in 1987, where he planted his first batch of Caturra. He was fortunate to earn money producing coffee while working full-time for the local exporter. With his savings, Jairo managed to acquire five additional estates. After La Esmeralda, he purchased Villarazo, Mazatlán, Santa Monica, Maracay, and finally Buenos Aires. During the harvest season, Jairo is able to offer numerous jobs to locals, which has a significant economic impact on his community.
