Costa Rican specialty coffee produced by Coopelibertad on the Kitimat farm, located in the Central Valley region of Costa Rica.

It is a caturra and catuai varietal with a wet processing process washed and aerobic fermentation.

After the tasting we find a chocolatey coffee, highlighting flavors of orange, sugar cane and dried fruits. We will appreciate a medium body, acidity and sweetness

Produced by Coopelibertad at the Kitimat coffee estate

In the 1960s, small coffee growers in the Province of Heredia, Costa Rica, faced difficulties due to the domination of private profits in the coffee business. Without technical assistance, burdensome financing and loss of land, their situation deteriorated. Given this, the National Bank of Costa Rica established the Department of Cooperatives to promote the creation of these organizations.

In 1961, a group of Heredia coffee growers formed the Heredia Coffee Growers Cooperative, calling it COOPE LIBERTAD RL, as an act of protest and search for autonomy. Legally established in May of that year, the cooperative has endured for more than five decades, being recognized for the quality of its coffee in the national and international market. The history of Coopelibertad is a testimony of the fight for freedom and the development of small coffee producers in the region.
